History
Nordjysk Skjortefabrik was founded in 1923 by merchant C.A. Christensen. During the initial years production took place in an apartment in Aalborg, where Mr. Christensen himself did all the cutting. At the beginning the company produced only shirts for the field workers but later on production was extended to comprise heavy workwear.
In 1957 Mr. Christensen’s two sons were made partners of the company. The following year Mr. Christensen died and one of his son’s Juul Christensen took over as managing director. In 1968 he died and the grandson of Mr. C.A. Christensen, Jørgen Christensen, was appointed Managing Director of the company.
This became the start of a rapid development for the company, the name of which had now been changed to A/S Jyden Konfektion, Aalborg. The company took part in the development of a new mixture of polyester/cotton and was the first company in Europe to produce workwear of this new quality – a quality which is today used in all Danish hospitals.
On October 1st 2003 the company celebrated its 80th anniversary and at the same time was taken over by Mr. Ole Sørensen with the name now changing to Jyden Workwear A/S.
Since then the company has undergone big changes. The production has been moved abroad and our product range has been considerably widened. Initially Jyden Workwear A/S produced mainly heavy workwear for industry but is today attracting customers within the nursing, service and food industries. To optimize the service for the industrial customers, Jyden Workwear hat entered into a working partnership with Mascot Workwear about Heavy Duty Workwear Garments.
